Lube Oile Complex Unit
Unit Description
Consists of processing & support facilities designed for the production of lubricating oil base stock & food grade wax.
The process units included in the plant are listed as follows:
- Vacuum distillation unit
- Propane deasphalting unit
- Furfural extraction unit
- MEK dewaxing and wax fractionation unit
- Lube oil hydrofinishing unit
- Wax hydrotreating unit
The general processing scheme for the plant is outlined in block flow diagram.
Unit 1000 Vacuum distillation unit
Separates long reduced crude into vacuum gas oil, spindle oil, three side stream waxy distillation, a black oil cut and a short residue which is the main product to produce the lube oil.
Unit 2000 Propane deasphalting unit
Removes asphalt and resins from the short residue from the bottom of vacuum tower by propane solvent producing deasphalted oil and improving lube oil color.
Unit 3000 Furfural extraction unit
Refines propane deasphalted oil to remove aromatic materials by furfural solvent. Raffinates become suitable for finished base stock after further processing; viscosity index (V.I) is increased.
Unit 4000 MEK dewaxing and wax fractionation unit
Separates the raffinate from Furfural unit into wax and oil by Methyl Ethyl Ketone and Toluene solvents; pour point and viscosity of oil are improved.
Unit 5000 Lube oil hydrofinishing unit
Processes in "blocked operation" all dewaxed oil from the MEK unit to obtain satisfactory color and oxidation stability. Designed to operate in series with MEK unit without intermediate tankage.
Unit 6000 Wax hydrotreating unit
Processes in "blocked operation" all hard waxes from the MEK unit to obtain satisfactory color, oxidation stability and other essential characteristics for food grade waxes.
